ARREOLA LOSES TO STIVERNE IN VALIANT EFFORT FOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Chris Arreola vs Bermane Stiverne II

LOS ANGELES - Coming into last night's fight there a was great anticipation that Chicano boxer Chris "The Nightmare" Arreola, from Riverside, CA, might beome the first fighter of Mexican descent to win the world WBC "heavyweight" boxing championship. Entering the ring with a record of 35 wins (31 knockouts), 3 losses, and one none decision, the possibility was again tremendously high.

Although, it didn't happen last night. It did come close. Very close.

For the second time, Arreola was again caught by a devastating right hand thrown by his opponent Bermane Stiverne from Haiti, the now new world heavyweight champion. Up until this point, it was readily apparent that Chris was winning the fight. Two of the judges had Arreola winning 48-47 (or three rounds to two) and one had Stiverne winning by the same score. I had it 48-47 for Arreola as well.

In a post fight interview, Arreola was asked by ESPN's ring reporter how he felt. He responded, "Come on man. How do I feel? I'm devastated man. I'm here to win. Plain and simple. I'm here to win..."

Well check it out Chris. Win or lose, you fought like a proud Xicano warrior. And for that, you'll always be felt in the heart of your gente!
