ALVARADO VS. RIOS 3: Mike Alvarado vs Brandon Rios III - January 24th on HBO
A BOXING LOVER'S TRILOGY SURE TO BE ANOTHER GREAT FIGHT
As the world already knows well, when speaking about fighters of Mexican descent, i.e., whether it's a Mexican American fighter born in the states, or a Mexican national born south of the border, there's a general universal consensus that we know how to fight. And by that I mean, we know how to fight very well.
Maybe it's the Aztec warrior spirit that flows in our veins. Maybe it's the fact that so many of us have had some extremely hard times when growing up. Whatever it is, the fact is we are generally known for usually putting on a good show.
Once again, this Saturday, in front of the world, the Mexican fighting spirit will be on proud display when two Mexican American fighters, Brandon Rios (Lubbock, TX) fighting out of Oxnard, California will have his much anticipated rematch with Mike Alvarado (Denver, CO) at the 1stBank Center, in Bloomfield, Colorado.
This is the third time these two fighters have met - undoubtedly, with the first two bouts being some of the most action packed fighting the public has seen in recent years. On October 13, 2012, these two fighters battled for the first time at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. On that occassion, Rios was able to stop Alvarado in the 7th with the fight being voted the "Fight of the Year" by the Sports Illustrated Magazine.
A much anticipated rematch was then held on March 30, 2013 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. Like the first fight, the second also proved to be a highly explosive event with Alvarado then defeating Rios by unanimous decision. So now, this upcoming battle is part of a trilogy and grudge match. If you love Mexican fighters, or just love great fights, tune in to HBO this Sat. night. You won't be disappointed!
